Voice Over Talent is a Career Option for Those Who Are Persistent.

There's a change in our country. An unprecedented shift in the way we work. While thousands of Americans are laid off because of the tough economic times, more and more people are retraining themselves for the future. One employment option some are considering is to start a voice over business, providing their voice over talent to those agencies and studios looking for fresh new voices.

According to a new poll done by voicepunch.com, 79% of people would prefer to work from home than traveling to an office on a daily basis. The poll also found, the majority of respondents would start their own company if the start up cost was less than two thousand dollars. This is why many are seeking voice over training and looking to enroll in voice over classes.

So what do professionals say when someone asks, "how to voice over"?

According to the editor of bestradiojobs.com, Chris Kellogg, who is also a voice actor, commercial radio voice over talent, there are 5 things that everyone should keep in mind before considering a career in voice overs.

1) First, the female or male voice over talent should decide which category of voice over they'd like to be involved with. There are many different outlets for the voice over talent. They include animation and cartoon voice overs, narration voice overs, Japanese, British, French, Spanish and English, and German voice overs, radio and TV voice overs, English voice overs,

2) The start up cost for recording voice overs is not expensive. Most voice over studios can be designed for under $2,000. Ten years ago, the same studio, including mic, processing, and editing equipment would have cost between five and ten thousand dollars.

3) The voice over business is incredibly competitive. Once you create your voice over demo, it can be difficult to even get it in front of voice over agents who can get you voice jobs. Creating an impressive voice demo will be crucial to a talent's success.

4) If you are serious about beginning a new venture into the world of voice over acting, self promotion is a key component. Many talents take advantage of online talent voice over networks like bestradiojobs.com. It is always best to research and compare voice over online services before paying for a subscription.

5) Consider voice over coaching. Chris Kellogg says, "it's important to chose the right voice over scripts for your voice over demo...most agents and agencies only listen to the first 30 seconds of a voice demo. If you don't grab their attention in less than 30 seconds, your chances of success are minimal."

Persistence is the key to a successful career as a voice over actor. Again, the competition is fierce, and to be a top talent, one has to not only have to have a great sounding commercial voice, but has to have the drive to get in front of those who hire. Chris Kellogg says, "when I started out in the voice over business, I only dreamed of call backs. Today, I no longer have that problem. Like my grandfather always told me, 'when you start your career, you'll have to hunt hard for jobs, but after you create a name for yourself, they'll (employers) will come looking for you.' And in the voice over world, it's so true."
